PLEASE NOTE It will come as no surprise to those of you who visit this site that because of current restrictions there will be no dance classes for the foreseeable future though it is to be hoped we can start again in September 2021. As a concomitant of this it has been necessary to cancel the Open Dance that would normally take place in March. For those of you who wish to keep their hands in (or rather feet) I recommend visiting the Scottish Country Dancing Dictionary (scottish-country-dancing-dictionary.com) which has a wide selection of videos including "The hand Sanitiser Strathspey" and the "Corona Virus Reel"! So, in the immortal words of Robbie Shepherd, be lookin' for ye an' 'a the best till then.
The Blairgowrie Scottish Country Dance Club is the oldest Scottish Country Dance Club in Blairgowrie and has been going for over 70 years. We are a very welcoming group, meeting in the Town Hall every Wednesday at 7.30pm. We have various social events to augment our weekly classes. : a Christmas Party, and end of session Dinner Dance in March and an Open Dance, widely advertised, also in March. Our teacher is Alan Grant who walks the dances through several times and at class nights we use CD’s. At the open Dance however we have a live band. We would love to have you join us. If you are looking at this web site you will be fully aware that Scottish Country Dancing ticks most of the boxes: it provides exercise; it helps you keep fit; it provides mental stimulation as well as physical; it is inexpensive; it is very social and all ages and abilities can participate All you need to do is turn up!
